Square Terminal

Square Terminal is the hardware option: connect your Square seller account, then pair physical terminals to your stores. Press pay in the POS, the terminal wakes up, the customer taps, dips or swipes, and the sale closes.

Connecting and pairing

Connection is OAuth into your Square account. Devices are then listed and paired individually, so each store can have its own terminal.

During a sale

A terminal checkout is created and tracked while the customer completes it. A checkout that should not go ahead can be cancelled from the POS rather than left hanging on the device.

Reconciliation

Completed transactions are reconciled back by webhook, so the POS learns the outcome from Square rather than assuming it.
