Store credit
How store credit works as a tender at the counter today.
Store credit is a tender, not a balance system
"Store Credit" exists as a payment method you can select at the counter, and the payment screen handles it on the same path as a gift card. There is no store-credit balance held against a customer — no ledger, no issuing step, no expiry rules and no separate audit trail.
What works today
- Store Credit can be selected as a payment method on a sale
- It is a non-cash tender, so it is excluded from cash reconciliation
- It reports separately in sales history
If you need a real balance
Use gift cards. Those do have a balance, are funded only when paid for, decrement on redemption and refuse to go negative.
