Asking for device details

Whether the booking form asks what make and model the customer is bringing in, and how to turn that off.

Ask for device details, at Bookings → Settings, decides whether the booking form asks the customer what they are bringing in. It is on to start with, which is what a repair shop wants.

What changes when it is on

The booking form asks for the device make and the model, both optional, and whatever the customer types is shown in the diary beside their name. If the booking becomes a repair ticket, the make and model are carried into the intake wizard so the counter does not have to ask again.

What changes when it is off

The two questions disappear from the booking form, and the diary stops showing a device against a booking. Everything else is untouched: the customer still picks a location and a time, still chooses a service if you offer a list, and still describes what they need.

Turn it off if what you book is not a device. The rest of the module never assumed one.

Turning it off stops the details being recorded at all

It is a decision about what you collect, not just what is displayed: with the switch off, no make or model is stored against a new booking even if something is sent to the booking form by other means.

Bookings taken earlier keep whatever was recorded at the time — nothing is deleted. Turn the switch back on and those details are visible again.
