Opening hours and slots

Setting the hours you take bookings in, how long one takes, how many at once, and how far ahead.

Everything on this page lives at Bookings → Settings, which is admin only. Together these settings decide which times a customer is offered.

What you can set

SettingWhat it does
On / offWhether the booking page accepts anything at all.
TimezoneThe zone every time is worked out in — yours, not the server's.
Appointment lengthHow many minutes one booking takes.
Bookings per time slotHow many bookings one time slot can hold.
Minimum noticeHow many hours ahead the next bookable slot must be.
Book up toHow many days into the future customers may book.
Opening hoursA window per weekday — a default week, and optionally a different week for a particular location.
Closed datesSpecific dates nothing can be booked on.

How the available times are worked out

Slots are cut from each day's opening window in steps of the appointment length, and a slot only appears if it fits entirely inside the window — a 45-minute appointment will not be offered at ten to close. A slot is then dropped if it:

  • falls inside the minimum-notice window
  • is further ahead than the booking horizon
  • lands on a closed date
  • already holds as many bookings as the capacity allows

The times the customer sees are re-checked when they submit, so a slot that filled up while they were typing is caught. Two customers taking the last slot at the same instant cannot both get it — the second is told to pick another time.

More than one location

If you have more than one shop, the customer picks which one first and is then offered that shop's times. Opening hours default to one week that applies everywhere; give a particular location its own week and that week is used for it instead of the default.

Closing for a day is not the same as closing the window

Switching a weekday off closes it every week. A closed date closes one specific day — that is the one to use for a public holiday or a shutdown week.
