Turning a booking into a repair
Starting a repair ticket from a booking, what carries across, and what the booking becomes.
Start repair on a booking in the diary opens the ordinary repair intake wizard with what the customer already told you filled in. It is the join between the two modules, and the only one — there is no separate booking-to-job process to learn.
What carries across
- Customer name, phone and email
- Device make and model, where you ask for them
- The service they picked and what they typed about the problem, combined into the fault description
If the customer told you the make and model, the wizard opens on the repairs step, ready to price the job. If they did not, it opens at the start so the counter can pick the device. Everything is editable — the customer said what they thought was wrong, and the counter records what is actually in front of them. See Create a repair ticket.
When the booking is closed off
The booking becomes Converted when the repair ticket is actually saved, not when the wizard opens — so a conversion someone starts and abandons leaves the booking exactly where it was, still in the queue for whoever picks it up next. Because the ticket and the booking are settled in the same step, there is no second PIN prompt for the booking.
From that point the customer's own cancel link no longer works — the device is with you, so cancelling is a conversation, not a click.
If a customer arrives with three devices and intake raises three tickets, the booking is linked to the first one. It records which appointment the visit came from; it is not a bill of what was dropped off.
